His Limits or Yours?

So many times in life we “weigh” ourselves: our abilities; our strengths; our weaknesses; and the list continues based off of our understanding of “us”, what we have been told we can or cannot do, or what trial and error in life has shown us.
I ask you to ask yourself today, “What is the obstacle in front of you? What are you stressed out about?” Or do you even know exactly? Is it weighed by your own understanding? What you do or do not know; can or cannot understand?
I have great news! The Living God who formed and made you actually cares and knows all. He knows you even if you don’t know yourself, AND he likes you and made great plans for you. Are you willing to except His invite for them? I can assure you His perception of you is greater than your own.
One day God gave me a great lesson in a very ordinary scenario. My three-year-old (for the sake of this I will call her EK) loves any opportunity to go outside with me or my husband. If she notices that one is in the yard, she immediately asks to go out and for help to open the door. She has a hard time getting the door knob fully turned and opened. This day in particular, I realized my husband had gone outside and that in just minutes my daughter would be asking to go outside. I also knew that it was time to get my youngest daughter down for a nap. So unknowingly to EK, I went ahead of her and opened the door enough where all she needed to do was pull. Sure enough and not even five minutes later, she was eagerly requesting for me to open the door.
EK: I want to go outside. Please open the door
Me: Ok. Go pull the door opened. I’ve opened it for you.
EK: (Still standing at the door and now getting upset) Mama please. You know I can’t open the door. Please.
With each passing minute, the anxiety was climbing and the tears were puddling.
Me: I have already opened it. Just pull. I know you can do it. You haven’t even tried.
EK: Mama I can’t. Please Mama Please.
This continued until I left the baby’s room and walked with EK to the door. I placed her hand on the door knob and said “Pull baby.” Staring at me with tear filled eyes, she still doubted. I placed my hand on hers and pulled with her. When the door opened with ease, she was somewhat surprised and skipped on outside.
God “downloaded” in that moment as He does for me this lesson.
I’m going to ask again, What is the obstacle in front of you today? What is burdening your life? What limits are you living by?
How often do we pray and petition something to God?...What is prayer? Simply talking to Him! He knows your heart. There is no specific combination of "right words. Just speak!
We often continue to pray, but we may rarely act on it in confidence(aka Faith) expecting. We may even pray and stress completely out waiting for it to "fall in our laps" literally so that we can see it. Or we don't ask for His way and will in it, and be ok with it. We also forget that we have freewill of action. God has promised to equip us with all we need in any moment. (What we NEED...not always what we WANT).
If you don't know. God has your best interest in mind. He loves and delights when you rejoice in and ENJOY what you have and during the day when it is in activities that are healthy for you that build you to be the best you!!
See,…
- I know my EK, and I knew that she would be asking to go outside because she loves this. She delights in it. (Sounds familiar to God’s Living Word? He knows us. He cares and always provides. [Phil 4:19]
- I went before her and opened (did what she was not able to do. I turned the knob fully and essentially opened the door. I did what was hard or "impossible" to her). All she had to do was pull slightly. The obstacle of the latch had already been overcome.
Isaiah 45: 2 “I will go before you and level the mountains. I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.”
What “mountains” are before you today? Jesus spoke and taught that with just a speck of faith and by His authority (Speaking in His name) you through Jesus are not limited and can cast mountains in the oceans. MOVE MOUNTAINS TODAY! In confidence of Jesus and confidence in your ability through Jesus. So many times in His word He says that He goes before us (Deut 31:8; Isaiah 52:12; John4:13 just to name a few)
- EK used her own understanding to determine her ability. She was confident in me, but doubted herself. This reminds me of the Story of Jesus’s disciple, Peter, that stepped out of the boat when He saw Jesus walking on the water. Peter stepped out and STOOD on the water tops. He then began to weigh his circumstances through his own understanding. He trusted His Savior before him but began to doubt his own ability. When Peter began to sink, he cried out. He FREAKED. Jesus reached down and ask, “Why did you doubt?” Peter did not doubt Jesus otherwise he wouldn’t have cried to His rescue. He, instead, doubted himself. YOU WERE MADE TO BE CONFIDENT.
This is for another writing, but remember God LOVES YOU! HE MADE YOU! And He sees you FOR YOUR WHOLE ABILITY AND POTENTIAL.
Today I encourage you, SEIZE THE DAY and be free!! Being free to trust God fully, is to be free in life. To be freely confident in HIM and how HE sees you and makes the limitations of this world disappear. For, ALL THINGS are POSSIBLE through Jesus Christ. [Matthew 19:26 “ Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Be free by BELIEVING FULLY in the way that God see you versus how you see yourself.
One more thought: Our actions are the fruits of our beliefs. You either believe God or you don’t. You either take Him at His word or your don't. This doesn't mean that you cant. It is simply your decision to. I encourage you to KNOW the LORD YOUR GOD. KNOW what you mean to HIM. How? The best way is to read the “fine print”. His word is truth. Don’t take my word for it or anyone else’s. Go to Him. Speak to Him. I assure you it will change your life, and you will see Him in ways that you never seen before. Cling to Him today and walk out...LIVE YOUR FAITH OUT. For if faith as small as a mustard seed will move the mountains, then you've got some mountains to move!
Today is the Day the LORD has made rejoice and be glad!
To God be the glory forever!
